Ex Lanificio Borbonico
In the Santa Caterina a Formiello complex near Porta Capuana, a building made for production, once a royal wool mill, is becoming a workplace again. We are renovating its spaces so that technology, learning and culture can turn into opportunities for work, study and encounter.

From manufacturing to a factory for innovation
- Then
The Sava wool mill
In the nineteenth century, the Santa Caterina convent became one of the most important textile works in the Kingdom.
- Now
A renovation under way
About 900 m² under renovation, in a complex that already hosts cultural and social organizations. Part of the space is already used for work, meetings and events.
- Next
A factory for innovation
Programs, Academy, culture and work in one place, as the spaces are completed.
The spaces are opening in stages: what we describe as next is the project under way, not yet a finished place.
The quality of work also depends on places
Happy Building is a concept created by Simona Zamparelli, the Lanificio’s artistic director. It explores the quality of work and human experience: how a space can make trust, collaboration, learning and unexpected encounters more likely.
That is why the spaces are designed to host, alongside everyday work, cultural events, training sessions and conversations between people from different disciplines.

Space builds capability too.
Art and science meet, and the memory of the place talks to experimentation. Technology makes sense when it meets a living community.
Culture is infrastructure.
Infrastructure does not only connect machines and systems. It also connects people who speak different languages.
That is why exhibitions, performances and meetings are part of life at the Lanificio: new initiatives often start where different disciplines meet.

Digital art and artificial intelligence, inside the Lanificio
From May 10 to 12, 2024, New Fluxus brought digital art, immersive performances and artificial intelligence into the Lanificio, used as tools for reflection and shared creation.
It was a way to explore the boundary between art and science, emotion and code, turning a workplace for a few days into a space to experience with all the senses.

Teamwork, at sea too
Happy Building also continues outside the Lanificio. On board the Solaris 39, along the coast of Procida, we offer team experiences led by an Italian Sailing Federation (FIV) instructor: another way to work on roles, listening and shared decisions.
